| 研究実績の概要 |
I continued to conduct research on various issues related to appropriate open-close policy setting. I participated in a number of international conferences and gave presentations on big data / trade secret development at a plenary session at the Annual Congress of ATRIP (in Nashville), and presented a paper on standard-essential patent enforcement in Asia at the IP Scholars Conference in Chicago.
I also conducted a number of interviews with leading scholars and practitioners in China, the US, and in Germany during which we discussed current developments in the area of patent and trade secret protection. Further, I proceeded to work on various chapters and articles with the aim of publication in this academic year.

理由
I decided to push back the survey analysis by a few months, and focused on conference presentations and publications that I had promised / signed agreements for. That said, the progress of the overall research project has been going rather smoothly.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
I will publish the Research Handbook on Information Governance law this year, which will continue to require substantive editorial work. Further, I will conduct the survey and prepare one or two publications on this in this year and the next year. I would still like to intensify cooperation with colleagues at Stanford Law School, and will attempt to set-up appropriate cooperation projects related to this research project.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I had planned to attend another international conference at Santa Clara Law School in the US in February 2020, but decided not to go in light of the Covid-19 development and possible travel inconveniences.
