研究実績の概要 |
In the second year of the Kakenhi project, we published two papers: Chiuchiu, Tu and Pigolotti Phys. Rev. Lett. 2019, Chiuchiu, Ferrare and Pigolotti PRE 2019. The first paper studies error correction and its fluctuations as a stochastic phenomenon. The second paper describes error correction using a continuous stochastic model. In the last year of the project, our main objective is to complete the study of the optimal tradeoff between speed, dissipation, and accuracy in error-correcting reactions. This will be the most ambitious goal of this Kakenhi project

理由
We published two papers, including one in a high impact journal (Physical Review Letters). We also obtained promising results on optimization of replication reactions. These results make us confident that we will be able to complete the proposed research plan during the third year of the project. On the other hand, our project on connecting mutation signatures with properties of replicating machine has progressed rather slowly due to technical difficulties. We anyhow expected that this project could involve higher risks and was likely to take more time. Overall, the status of the project is very satisfactory.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
During the last year of the KAKENHI project, we will focus on finalizing our work on optimization of networks replicating information. We spent a significant amount of time during this year to develop an efficient algorithm that optimizes these networks according to given scores. The algorithm now is complete and we are obtaining the first results. The rest of the year will be devoted to produce extensive results for general replicating networks, analyzing these results, and writing a paper on these results. We expect this work to have a significant impact on the community working on this problem.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
We will use the carry-over funds from the previous FY to fund traveling to conferences. In case traveling will not be possible due to COVID restrictions, we will use the funds to support a research intern or a student that can collaborate to the last part of the project.
