研究実績の概要 |
During the past academic year, we have completed the following research. First of all, we have studied some extensions of nonlinear sigma models at finite density. This has resulted in a deeper understanding of some of the fundamental aspects of this class of quantum field theoretical models at finite density and in the presence of boundary conditions, an area of study that has seen a surge of recent interest. We have also been able to find new representation of the effective action at both small and large values of the chemical potential. This work has been published in the Physical Review D and another paper is currently submitted to the same journal. A second line of research that we have pursued has been concerned with studying the Casimir effect for interacting field theories. This work has resulted in a new understanding of the modifications that interactions induce in the vacuum energy. This work has been resubmitted to the Journal of Physics (after the first comments of the Referees have been taken into account; we expect the paper to be published soon). The third line that we have pursued has been concerned with the study of interacting field theories in stationary background (in the presence of rotation). We have developed a new way to study this problem and its relevance in condensed matter physics, along with new results regarding the basic features of these models. This paper is currently being completed and we expect to submit it within a few weeks to the Physical Review.

2: おおむね順調に進展している
理由
The research has progressed rather smoothly. There has been no special impediment, except for some slight delay due to the pending health crisis that has resulted in additional course work. This has impeded us to participate in various conferences, but we hope that the situation will change during this academic year and that we will be able to take the chance to disseminate our results, and further extend the research relates to this project.
|
今後の研究の推進方策 |
We have already completed the study of non relativistic field theories and we hope to be able to carry out some extensions of this work regarding the Casimir effect in the presence of rotation.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the COVID-19 crisis it has been impossible to participate in any conference to disseminate the results of this project and several seminars (both invited and contributed) had to be cancelled. This has slowed the collaborations that we have intended to develop and impeded a smooth interaction with colleagues abroad. We hope that the situation may improve and within this academic year.
