During the third year of the project, synthetic conditions of the bis(housenes) prepared during the second year of the project were optimized to reach the maximum yield of the target products. In addition, unusual reactivity of bis(housenes) was also studied. Then, synthetic strategy for the synthesis of the final poly(housenes) and poly(pyramidanes) were comprehensively computationally studied, to find the best reaction conditions and to study the influence of the substituents and skeletal atoms on the stability of polymeric systems. Finally, reduction of the bis(housenes), as the key step towards the synthesis of poly(housenes), was experimentally investigated. Thus, during the third year, our project progressed smoothly in accord with the originally proposed research plan.
