| 研究実績の概要 |
One of the main research activities undertaken between April 2020 to March 2021 was a field study to determine the log-to-shiitake transfer factor (TF) of stable cesium (Cs-133) using logs collected throughout Japan, and the factors that might lower the TF. The average log-to-shiitake TF (dry weight basis) was 21.7 (range, 4.8 to 34.9). Although, there was no obvious relationship between potassium (K) concentrations in logs and Cs-133 in shiitake, a higher K concentration in logs was found to decrease the log-to-shiitake TF of Cs-133. There is also evidence that absorption competition between K and Cs-133 is an important factor for Cs-133 uptake by shiitake because we found a positive correlation between the Cs-133/K ratio in logs and log-to-shiitake TF.

理由
The field work has been completed to determine the log-to-shiitake TF and the factors that might affect the TF. Seventy-five percent of all laboratory work related to the field work has also been completed.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
We will continue to complete all remaining laboratory work, and statistically analyze the data. Once the data is analyzed, we will write two research papers to report the results of the research.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Last year`s budget was not used because we did not purchase an incubator as planned.
In the next fiscal year, we will use the funds to purchase the incubator, and other consumables and chemicals to complete all the laboratory work, and to cover all costs associated with publishing the research. The funds will also be used to cover all costs associated with attending seminars/conferences
