研究実績の概要 |
In the second fiscal of this project, we have focused on the deployment of the context-aware IoT system. We have made achievements as follows. 1) Context-ware IoT sensors and gateways. We have developed multiple kinds of IoT sensors (including temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, GPS) and gateways (including arduino version and raspberry version) for monitoring people’s lifestyle. We have deployed multiple IoT sensors and gateways in Hiroshima to monitor the ocean environment to support the local fisheries industry. 2) Context-aware mobile network. First, we cooperated with a mobile network carrier to integrate our private LTE with a public LTE network, where a user can migrate between the private LTE and the public LTE network with only one SIM. Second, we extended Private LTE to Local 5G for higher bandwidth and lower latency. 3) High-speed PPPoE Router. We have done more experiments and the extension the work of a 10Gbps software PPPoE router for home IoT network built last year has been published as an IEICE journal paper.

理由
We have done more development work and more publication than listed in our proposal. Our work has been highly evaluated by industry and academic. In industry, our real IoT system has been deployed in Hiroshima to monitor the ocean environment which can reduce the burden of workers in fisheries industry. We have cooperated with multiple companies on the topic of IoT. Our context-aware IoT system has a strong practical value in helping people to monitor the “new lifestyle” in the post-COVID era. We are deploying it in campus. In academic research, we have published 1 journal paper, 4 international conference papers, and 14 technical reports in this fiscal year.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the third fiscal year, we have the following research plan. 1) We will deploy our IoT gateways and sensors in the university campus to monitor the people's lifestyle in the post-COVID era. For example, we plan to detect how many people in the campus and where is the heatmap. 2) We will have more real use cases for our IoT systems. For example, we will extend the IoT from fishery industry to agriculture. We plan to monitor the environment such as temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure in a farm at Fukushima. 3) We will integrate the IoT system with local 5G system for more high-throughput and low-latency IoT applications. 4) We will do more publication as in the proposal.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
In the second fiscal year, our development have shared equipments (IoT devices, eNB and EPC) with other projects. Moreover, the international conference we attended was hold in Japan so we can save our budget of the first two fiscal year. In the third fiscal year, we need to buy more equipments dedicated to this project.
