研究実績の概要 |
This year we finished designing the task for the simultaneous fMRI tDCS experiment. The experiment involved a perceptual motor task and a audio task. There were three sessions pre training, training, and post-training. The training was given only for the perceptual motor task. There were two groups of subjects: one group received tDCS active stimulation to right DLPFC during training and the other group received tDCS sham stimulation. Our goal was to run 15 subjects in each the stim and sham groups. Unfortunately we were only able to run 12 subjects in stim and 9 subjects in the sham group before experiments were halted due to the covid-19 restrictions. Another EEG experiment with tDCS was also designed. This was partly done during my business trip to UCSD. This experiment involves 3 tasks: 1. play improv music with guitar 2. play ahead of rhythm with guitar. 3. play on rhythm with guitar. The goal is to train on the play ahead of rhythm task with tDCS and see if the improv condition also improves. There are 3 sessions: Pre, training, Post. EEG is recorded during pre and post sessions. tDCS stim and sham groups during training session. The feedback during the training sessions gives a real time visual image of the background music and the guitar music they are playing so they can see if they are playing before the beat. This experiment is ready to conduct as soon as we can start running subjects again.

The current experiments we were running using tDCS as part of this proposal have been delayed because we are unable to run subjects at this time due to Covid-19.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The plan for this year is to finish running subjects when possible. After collecting data for both the fMRI-tDCS experiment and the EEG-tDCS experiments the goal is to analyse the data. After analysing the data the goal is to present the data in academic conferences and journals. Conducting the analysis and writing up the papers will be facilitated by visits to the Swartz Center of Computational Neuroscience at UCSD to work with collaborators on this project.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
契約差額の端数については次年度の消耗品費として使用する。This amount of the budget (92339円) was not used during the previous year because I wasn't able to run as many subjects as I anticipated. This was partly due to availability to book time on the fMRI and loss of subjects as a result of restrictions imposed by Covid-19.
