研究実績の概要 |
Two full-length scholarly articles were published in 2018. The journals are among the better-known in anglophone humanities research and for English Literature scholars more particularly. The most important citation is as follows:
Daniel McKay. “Pivot to Asia: Iraq War Literature and Asian/American Women.” University of Toronto Quarterly, 87:2 (2018): 39-63. [U of Toronto P. A&HCI]
In addition, I presented my research findings at three international conferences, which greatly aided both my networking and the development of my research. Two of these conferences were at professional venues in Canada, while the third took place in Canberra, Australia, at the Australian National University. These conferences were tremendously helpful for the dissemination of my research findings and also provided me with important feedback that helped to improve my research a good deal. I made an important number of research contacts among my fellow presenters. Last but not least, I was an invited lecturer at the University of Delhi’s Centre for Studies in Violence, Memory and Trauma during the period 23 / 11 / 2018 - 07 / 12 / 2018. The lectures I delivered reflected some of the most recent research I had undertaken, such as an article published in University of Toronto Quarterly. As such, those students and faculty members who attended my lectures gained advance exposure to some of the most cutting edge work in the field of anglophone war studies. Since then, I have contacted my formal host in order to request that he read sample chapters from my book project.

理由
My book project now exists in a draft form and I am circulating chapters and the introduction among colleagues and scholarly acquaintances in order to solicit feedback. Thus far, this feedback reveals a need for further revision work. These revisions are unlikely to result in the derailment of my project. Rather, they will require that I iron out certain issues related to my academic writing style and to the difference between writing a PhD dissertation and writing a scholarly book for publication (two different genres of writing that have correspondingly different standards).

今後の研究の推進方策 |
I have approached a scholarly press with a book proposal, which is currently undergoing consideration with the lead editor. In addition, I have identified 3-4 alternative scholarly presses that I believe would be appropriate choices for the publication of my book. As such, I must follow the schedules of these prospective editors and this means that the publication of my book might be delayed. However, I do not anticipate that these delays, if they do come about, will be too lengthy in duration. As a countermeasure to ensure that the project proceeds, I have used my funding to request important scholarly books that will aid my research.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
This amount is intended to cover modest expenditures associated with the purchase of scholarly books, subscribing to journals, or paying the membership dues of learned societies. In each instance, these expenditures will be associated with the completion of my fellowship project.
