| 研究実績の概要 |
In AY2018 I have been focusing on developing the survey instrument for making digital stories. For this I have needed to gain a greater understanding of the literature in this field.
In November of 2018 I was able to attend the WorldCALL conference held in Chile using this grant. I was also able to bring a collaborating researcher with me. At this conference I was able to present two papers about Japanese university students pronunciation and study abroad. These papers were well received by the audience. I was also able to gain valuable feedback from other participants and gain some ideas related to study abroad research.
I have made advancements in my research and have been able to, using the grant, provide students with the tools necessary to create more professionally designed videos.

理由
I have realized that although the students are digital natives, that they really need to be guided through the process of making digital stories. It is not enough for me to just ask the students to make them. I need to explain a lot of background information in regards to the editing process, who to take more effective videos, and what is and is not appropriate in a digital story.
Without clear guidance throughout the digital story making process the final results received from students have been of a poor quality. However, with more guidance the quality has improved somewhat.
I have realized that it is necessary for me to focus on getting the students to understand the importance of digital stories before they begin making them.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the next year I will continue with my research plan. However, as stated above I will focus a lot more on explaining to the students the reasons why the digital story making process is important to them when studying abroad.
I will also create some instruction videos on how to make a digital story so that future students are able to use this as a resource when making the videos.
In May 2019 I presented a paper at the IAFOR conference at Virginia Tech related to how international and domestic students use digital feedback and in August 2019 I have been accepted to present a paper about the process of making digital stories which has come about due to may experiences in the last year.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
In AY2019 I will be using this research money to attend two international conferences for which I have been accepted. The first conference is IAFOR conference at Virginia Tech in May 2019, and the second is EuroCALL in Brussels in August 2019. In addition to this the funds will be used to purchase a 360 degree camera and computer to encourage the making of more professional like presentations. Finally, some of the funds will be used to hire a research assistant to assist with data analysis.
