| 研究実績の概要 |
My research project focused on Filipina marriage immigrants' labor market participation and its sociopolitical implications in South Korea. Through multiple field trips, I conducted in-depth interviews with a large number of Filipina marriage immigrants in both urban and rural areas to understand how their gender, race and ethnicity, economic conditions lead them to mostly unskilled service and care work, as well as farming work in rural areas. I was also able to understand how women's labor market position sometimes facilitate, but mostly hinder their participatory capacity in voluntary associational activities. I presented the outcomes of analysis of the interviews in several international conferences and published articles in major scholarly journals. My research contributes to the literature on marriage migration as well as immigrant political incorporation.

理由
As I conduct more interviews with Filipina marriage immigrants about their working lives, I was able to learn that work plays a central role in women's sociopolitical adaptation in South Korean society. Women's sense of belonging was also dependent on their experience in the labor market. One informant, who was juggling four jobs as a single mother, demand that the Korean society should "Accept us 100% not 50%," indicating that their capacity to become economically independent is essential to their full belonging. Thus, I was convinced that the direction of this research was right, despite the relative silence on women's labor market participation in marriage migration literature.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
While I will continue my field trips for follow-up interviews with key informants, I will also focus on writing and publishing the results. Currently, I am writing a book chapter on women's labor market participation and sociopolitical incorporation which is scheduled for publication at the end of this year. Another book chapter and two journal articles have been completed and in the process of review for publication. Further, I will present the results at various international conferences to collect useful feedback.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Because I focused mainly on collecting data through multiple field trips in the initial year of this research project, I postponed buying software and hardware equipment that is required for data analysis (i.e., qualitative data analysis software). I also postponed transcribing interview scripts so that I can outsource the process at once. As a result, article costs and personal expenditure and remuneration costs, as well as miscellaneous were moved to the second fiscal year.
