研究実績の概要

During the first year of the grant period, I completed two research projects. The first one is related to the numerical task of analytically continuing Euclidean data, obtained for example in lattice QCD simulations. The purpose of the study was to compare different methods of analytic continuation and to give guidance on which method works best for which specific problem. Another project was the writing of an extensive review paper about QCD condensates and QCD sum rules in the journal "Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics", which was published recently.
Furthermore, I started to work on the question of how the phi meson with non-zero momentum behaves in nuclear matter, and obtained some first preliminary results, which will be valuable for the E16 experiment to be carried out at J-PARC during the next few years. Moreover, I established a new project in collaboration with researchers from Frankfurt University with the goal of simulating pA (p: proton, A: nucleon) collisions using a relativistic transport approach. This is done with the purpose of studying the behavior of the phi meson in such collisions, which will be probed at J-PARC. The final goal of this work will be to compare experimentally measurable data with theoretical calculations.

理由

As it took more work and time than expected to complete the review paper that was published recently, the research projects which I planned to pursue during the first year were somewhat delayed. Furthermore, due to various discussions with experimental researchers during the first year, I slightly modified my research plan by starting a new (and not previously planned) research project about simulating pA (p: proton, A: nucleon) collisions. Doing this sort of simulation will be crucial for comparing theoretical studies with experimental data.

今後の研究の推進方策

The first task in the second year will be to complete the study about the phi meson with non-zero momentum in nuclear matter. This work is ongoing and will hopefully be finished soon. Likewise, I plan to invest a considerable amount of time to the project related to the pA simulation, because the related J-PARC E16 experiment will start soon and I intend to obtain some first results before the experiment starts to provide some guidance for the experimentalists. This, however, means that I will have to postpone some of the other projects that planned to do in the second year (D mesons in nuclear matter, strangelets from lattice QCD) to a later time.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

The costs for the planned travel were slightly smaller than expected.
I plan the use the incurring amount for travel expenses next year. This is reasonable as next years budget will be somewhat smaller than last year.
