To realize the on-chip high throughput optical circuit, the waveguides that can guide wave signals at low-loss subwavelength mode and over a long distance on a chip is the key problem to be solved. This year, we design and fabricate a long-range propagation surface wave platform based on the monolithic on-chip fabrication process. We demonstrated this non-metal multilayer surface wave platform, consisting of only two pairs of high/low refractive index dielectric layers, realizing a well-coupled surface wave in a wide spectral range. Due to the large refractive index difference between the high/low index materials, the multilayer structure is designed to possess only two pairs of layers with a smaller total thickness than any of the reported non-metal surface wave platforms. This platform supports the light propagating in a low-loss subwavelength mode and can be utilized for the integrated optical circuits.
