研究実績の概要 |
Due to the Covid-19 situation, none of the field-work related work such as the planned follow-up survey to Nepal was possible. As a consequence, the empirical work required to validate the model has been scant. None the less, within the possible scope of activities during the pandemic, the PI supervised a relevant student research thesis entitled 「災害後における商業の復興プロセスの実態と課題 -栃木市蔵の街地区を対象に-」, which looks that the recovery trends of businesses and their delays or impact from secondary disasters. This work was able to reveal the relationship between livelihood recovery and business recovery. This could potentially be incorporated in our ABM model.
The existing recovery model’s framework has been published in a peer-reviewed book chapter

理由
A follow up visit to Nepal had been planned for the end of 2019 and also later adjusted to 2020 to have a thorough investigation done (since we were only able to survey a few respondents previously), but could not be conducted due to the uncertain situation attributed to COVID-19.
We had initially decided to postpone the survey in Nepal, but have now decided to change the research plan to minimize the empirical work and focus on the model validation through different means such as literature-based validation and a system dynamics model.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The work for this year will focus on Objective 3 and trying to gain insights from running the model for recovery trajectories. Minor model extension is also expected to improve the model with previous empirical insights from last year. Journal publication which addresses in detail the policy relevance and impacts of the recovery modelng is also expected. Another publication which reviews currently existing recovery modeling research and suggests the future research directives of this field is also in progress. This will identify the existing gaps in the literature which the modeling approaches can fill. Presentation in several postponed conferences (due to COVID-19) as also planned this year as they will be held virtually.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Since there was disruption in data collection for Nepal and other locations, the amount expected to be used for travel in relation to that will be used this year. Other than this, a conference attendance and publication fee is also planned for this year. Other expenses are mostly for necessary consumables and research resources including equipment.
