Opto-Electrical Analysis of the Oxygen Reduction Reaction at Solid-Gas Interfaces

研究実績の概要

Samples were produced as planned and the measurement setup was modified to enable optical measurements in the frequency domain, where the change of the absorption of the sample is measured. First results for an optical impedance spectrum were obtained and characteristic and reproducible measurement results were achieved. The dependence on temperature, oxygen partial pressure and voltage bias was demonstrated. The results were already presented on three international conferences. Intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) was adapted to be used on strontium titanate electrodes successfully.

理由

Two innovative measurement techniques were applied and the experiments all succeeded. The first results are very promising. Clear parameter dependencies were obtained. I have already collected a lot of data of rather good quality on different samples and I am currently running the analysis of this data. I am positive that in the second year of the project, the research goals can be reached. Small problems were the limited stability of the Pt counter electrodes on the thin film model electrodes. These showed some degradation during the measurement time of two weeks.

今後の研究の推進方策

The main issue is the Pt counter electrode, which was not stable during the long measurement times, as mentioned in "current status". There are already a couple of strategies how to improve the stability of these electrodes by using different deposition techniques which are all now available now. Currently, the design of the new Pt counter electrodes is being developed and new samples will be produced soon. As next steps, I will put into operation an additional new (smaller) test setup, where the experiments are supposed to be easier to perform. I expect even better data quality in this setup. Also, the new setup will be applicable to measure the reflectivity of the samples as planned in the second phase of the project.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

New samples will be produced and measurements will be conducted. Optical measurement equipment is necessary for that. The results of this project will be presented on international conferences. As the project is running rather smoothly, the initial plan as written in the proposal is planned to be adopted.
