研究実績の概要 |
The formation of iron oxide by thermal oxidation and anodization is currently on-going. The set-up of water-vapor assisted oxidation furnace has been set up for the mechanism study of iron oxide formation by thermal oxidation.By using anodization, the formation of iron oxide nanotubes with high surface area is currently under investigation. The high surface area of nanotubes will be beneficial for the adsorption of heavy metal ions (chromium) in the next characterization stage.By using iron oxide nanoparticles decorated on carbon paper, the development of iron-air battery was also conducted.

理由
The set-up of the oxidation furnace with water-vapor assisted system was done. The study of iron oxide formation via oxidation and is currently on-going. However, due to the high cost of magnetic field generation equipment, the study of magnetic field induced thermal oxidation is yet to be carried out. Alternative method to induce the formation of large surface area of iron oxide is being considered such as anodization.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The iron oxide nanostructures obtained via thermal oxidation and anodization will be used for heavy metal ions adsorption characterization (chromium adsorption). This testing will be carried out through a collaborative work with Universiti Sains Malaysia. Controlled formation and design of iron oxide nanostructures using the customized furnace will also be carried out.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The amount received is insufficient to purchase a magnetic field generation equipment. The total amount received this fiscal year will be used for the necessary experimentation as well as invited international conference presentation.
