In this fiscal year, In this fiscal year, further optimization of the experimental setup was done. I also investigated the graphene samples grown on Au(111) using STM. To further improve the setup, I explored the optimum conditions for the power supply of the PCA antenna in order achieve even higher THz intensity which is necessary for the experiment. In particular, I looked at the effect of duty cycle and modulation frequency on the signal to noise ratio and the raw THz intensity itself. I was able to obtain an optimum setting for achieving both high signal to noise ratio and high signal intensity. I believe that this can also be affected by the tip used and especially the oscillation frequency and will be further explored. Lastly, in this fiscal year, I investigated in more detail the graphene samples grown on Au(111) using STM-TERS. I was able to obtain several peaks most of which are expected on pristine graphene. However, I also some peaks that are unique to this particular sample. These results will be correlated with data obtained from the THz-SPM setup. I also co-authored three publications published in this year in Nature, Physica Status solidi and in the Journal of Optical Society of America B on studies on GaAs, Single molecules and polarization analysis of dipoles.
