During this final year of the project, we developed a software capable of simulating the large deformations of a thin plate. This theory includes the large rotations of the plate, typical of kirigami structures. We verified the exactness of the method through comparison with analytical solutions developed during this project. Also, we implemented a crack algorithm based on the theory of configurational forces, which is a generalisation of the J-integral. We verified the accuracy of the stress intensity factors by comparing with known solutions from fracture mechanics. A significant achievement was a validation of the theory through experiments conducted by our collaborators on silk-based kirigami polymers. This work appeared on an important journal in the field of materials science.
