研究概要

家畜のバベシア病は、世界規模で甚大な被害を与えており、海外悪性伝染病に指定されている。本研究は、新たな診断法を開発すると共に、アジア・アフリカにおけるバベシア病の感染状況を明らかにし、日本のバベシア病に対する検疫体制強化に貢献することを目的として行われた。その結果、牛や馬のバベシア病に対する新規の血清および遺伝子診断法が開発された。これらの診断法を用いたアジア・アフリカの4カ国の牛・馬のバベシア病の疫学調査により、これらの地域で高い感染率が認められた。
