研究概要

本研究は、米軍の海外基地展開に関する研究である。米軍がどのような状況下で基地を置くか、撤退するか、あるいは国際環境が変化した後でも引き続き基地を置くかについて研究したものである。いかに基地が設置されるかについては、米軍の力(パワー)が大きな要因のひとつであり、戦争や占領によって始まるケースが多い。撤退する要因としては、冷戦の終焉のような国際環境の変化、ホスト国の政権交代、革命などに影響を受ける。ただ、国際環境の変化がすぐさま撤退を意味するものではない。過渡期であるがゆえ急な撤退が躊躇され、結果的に駐留が継続される場合もあり。
