Sustainable development and governance can play a stronger role in the development agenda in development and developing counties. This research focuses on SDGs implementation and adaptation practices under the local and national perspective. In a local context of Bangladesh, this study has already framed SDGs (sustainable development goals) localisation, where questionnaire development and related data collection has been accomplished. This study has developed a strategic framework for the speed up of the implementation of SDGs at the local level by exploring stakeholder’s knowledge and perception relating to SDGs and governance dimension. Based on this study, one abstract in 2020 SDG Research Symposium, 10-11 June, 2020, Utrecht, Netherland has been submitted and has already been accepted for presentation. Another study, Farm level adaptation to climate change: Exploring the knowledge, perception and practices of the small holder farmers, is going on which is related to agricultural sustainability. Based on this study, another abstract in 2020 Bratislava Conference on Earth System Governance, Bratislava, Slovakia has been submitted and has already been accepted for presentation. Overall, two objectives (2 and 3) of the proposed research has been partially achieved during FY2019 [November 2019- March 2020].

理由
The fellow’s research has been designed to achieve some specific objectives relating to sustainable development and governance during his 24 months JSPS fellowship. He has developed questionnaires for conducting one of his research on SDGs localisation in Bangladesh and completed data collection in the first phase. One draft paper is being prepared for submission. Two conference paper submissions have already been done and accepted. He is also working in a group and doing related research, which is providing more insights of research themes and sustainability issues. Also, he has participated in a number of talks held at universities, which are resulting to be useful for his research thought and development. The research paper the fellow is currently drafting, will be submitted to a journal. He has published two previous research papers in two different journals published by Springer and Elsevier respectively. Thus, the fellow has achieved progress in a certain level which is close to expectation.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
As this research focuses on sustainable development with governance agenda, the fellow has planned to conduct some local and national studies. Agricultural sustainability is another crucial agenda for sustainable development. The next research will explore the perception and adaptation practices of the small holder farmers towards climate resilient sustainable crop production in Bangladesh. Thus, in FY2020, the fellow will develop questionnaires and collect data on the above research. Moreover, in the same fiscal year, he shall conduct another study on “Determining the nexus between governance and agricultural sustainability at national level: Evidence from developed and developing countries” based on secondary sources of data. Collected data will be analysed, and result will be presented. A strategic framework and long term policy recommendations will be offered by this study, which would be useful for minimizing the gaps and challenges for achieving sustainable crop production in developed and developing countries Overall, this research would investigate not only the current governance system of developed and developing countries, but also develop a framework and index of effective governance system for agricultural sustainability. The fellow plans to attend two international conferences and publish two papers in two different indexed journals.
