研究実績の概要 |
We have developed a 2D resistive and Hall MHD simulation to study merging experiment in the spherical tokamak. These two modules help us to study the merging experiment in a flexible environment to optimize the shape of the device and coils. Therefore, the coils current, shape and current were optimized to maximize the number of flux lines in each formed plasma toroids which leads to the maximization of the ion heating, a critical point in the merging process in tokamak devices. Through this research we plan to improve the current designs of the spherical tokamaks like ST-40 which lead them to maximize their performance and achieve high ion heating.

理由
Due to the current pandemic, our plans slightly changed from the experimental/numerical to fully numerical which probably affect my plans.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Currently, we are working on a new EFIT program based on the MHD simulation which allow us to find the shape and the position of the plasma core inside the tokamak by using the external magnetic field measurements. As the current equilibrium modules assume that the plasma outflow is zero, out new program will let us to reconstruct the magnetic configuration with the higher accuracy compared to the current method. Hopefully, we will be able to publish our result in this topic and move to reconstruct the plasma shape in the ST-40 spherical tokamak which is plans to achieve high energy output.
