| 研究実績の概要 |
We published a new article about vocabulary coping strategies in TESOL Quarterly, a highly competitive journal which accepts about 6% of submissions. We also published an article in Reading Matrix. We wrote up another article on a follow-up study, which is currently being reviewed. So far, the research has shown that many Japanese readers of English do not have strategic competence when they encounter difficult vocabulary. For those who show more competence, they perform better on post-reading tasks, such as recall.
We also present the results at two international conference, the TESOL Convention and the American Association of Applied Linguistics.
Finally, we start planning another study on reading strategies using eye tracking. We could no collect new data due to the coronavirus pandemic.

理由
Everything is going better than planned as all of our proposals have been accepted, including with highly prestigious journals and conferences. The collection of data was delayed because of the COVID-19 situation.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
We plan to pilot on the research study in the spring and collect new data on the use of effect of strategies related to reading, vocabulary, and dictionary use. We will finalize the materials, and we plan to collect new data in the fall if the face-to-face research collection is feasible. (There is a chance that we will not be able to collect new data, if we cannot allow participants into our research offices due to the COVID pandemic.)
We plan to write up the results for academic journals and plan to present at academic conferences.
