研究実績の概要 |
Theory development commenced after interviewing 22 informants. Analysis has moved from open exploration to a more focused investigation of social processes in what we are calling the 'avidization' of students to become extensive readers. The development so far of the social processes in extensive reading was reported by the PI to over 1500 participants in an online conference hosted by Cambridge University Press. This was the first major impact of this funded research.

理由
The limitations of travel both within and outside Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused delays in further development of our research and plans for further development. The lack of vaccinations has precluded us from being able to contact students and educators for the next stages of research.
|
今後の研究の推進方策 |
Our plan for the moment is to further analyze and develop our theoretical framework with the data that we have collected, while seeking to reach out to educators via online platforms. Accessing students via teachers at other universities where extensive reading is being taught will be delayed until the vaccination of the Japanese population becomes more widespread, as collecting data from students via Zoom and other platforms is difficult without the more personable in-person, face-to-face mode of data collection.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Much of our funding was intended for us to go and access teachers and students in Japan and abroad in order to further develop the nuance and depth of our theory. We are planning on turning some of the funding for next year into better analytical tools and software, which will aid us in further studying the data that we have, as well as in finding new data.
