Towards the Development of a Critical Learning Support System for Primary School Teachers of English

研究実績の概要

During the third year of this three year project, there were various activities related to this research that were carried out. Firstly, a teacher training workshop was held to help gain more survey participants from in-service EFL teachers. After having achieved a significant sampling size for data analysis, data from the "Primary School Teachers' Needs Survey" was reviewed. Afterward, this data was entered in to statistical analysis software for analysis. The first analysis consisted of an analysis of the descriptive statistics to look for non-committal responses from respondents. The data was then subject to factor analysis, and correlation analysis. Following the data analysis, the results were reviewed against the literature on EFL education at primary schools in Japan and abroad to measure the significance of findings.

理由

This project has made reasonable progress so far. Almost all of the third year goals for this project have been completed during year three. However, due to the continuing pandemic, data analysis was delayed until the end of year three because of low survey participation in year two. As a result, the dissemination of the data collected was not able to be completed during the final year of this project.

今後の研究の推進方策

For this academic year, an extended year four of the the research project, the following future work is planned: (1) to create one or two more on-demand workshops
for the website based on the survey findings; (2) to disseminate the data domestically and internationally via conference presentations; and (3) to submit the findings to international and domestic academic journals for publication.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

During the next fiscal year, the usage plan is as follows: (1) for costs related to adding more content to the website; and (2) travel to the 20th Asia TEFL conference and America to disseminate the research findings.
