| 研究実績の概要 |
Due to the pandemic, this was impossible to conduct Asia Pacific research. So we focused on development in Japan. The ministry is trying to raise the number of schools offering Baccalaureate programs in regular state schools. To research this, we recruited an expert Prof. Mayumi Ito, who used to be the principal of Senri international School. Thanks to her contacts, we gained access to Torahime High School in Shiga Prefecture. We conducted interviews with teachers going through the process of adding the credentials to become IB teachers. The insights developed into a specific research plan for 2022. We are undertaking interviews with teachers in schools in Japan which are making the transition towards IB status, directives, while maintaining the regular curriculum.

理由
Asia Pacific countries were the focus of our book published at the beginning of 2021 but due to the pandemic, further investigation was impossible. Instead, we focused on the case of IB development in Japanese state schools. Even travel within Japan, and especially gaining access to schools and teachers has, of course, proven quite difficult. This was especially the case of the beginning of the 2021 academic year. Nevertheless, the achievement of having published our book at the beginning of last year resulted in acknowledgement of its contribution and gained us a lot attention from experts in the field. In particular, the recruitment of Professor Ito, mentioned above, has allowed us to create an updated research concept for the remainder of this Kaken project.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The amount of budget this year was intended for travel to research location in order to conduct qualitative interviews. Due to the pandemic, this was not possible. Those research activities will rather be conducted in the coming one year.
