研究実績の概要 |
The research is proceeding smoothly. After collecting publicly available data on the state of ODR in Europe, and completing the collection of academic literature on the subject, the first year was mainly devoted to acquire innovative methodological tools. This was obtained thanks to visit to leading academic institutions such as UC Berkeley (where I also researched ODR projects implemented by LA trial court) and Oxford University (where I worked with the Cultural Expertise research team). In particular, the first year focused on two main issues: 1) the relationship between dispute resolution and culture; and 2) ODR in the framework/as a support to the court system. Acquiring this theoretical insights was essential to make sure the research complied with the most innovative developments in the field. An assessment of academic views on ODR in Europe was obtained by interacting with colleagues from several European jurisdictions (Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, UK) during a research trip in Italy. Partial results of the research were presented in Oxford (October 2019), Kyoto (November 2019), and Nagoya (December 2019).

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I had to move some funds destined to FY2020 to FY2019 to cover some travel-related expenses, but then I was able to trim down the actual expenses thanks to the help of host researchers. Hence, the transfer or fund is merely a re-adjustement based on actual circumstances and expenditure. The current situation related to COVID-19 makes it a bit difficult to make certain plan, but I am hopeful I will be able to use funds as expected. In particular, I would need to visit EU institutions: I am confident this will be possible during FY2020
