FY2023 was employed to consolidate the research results achieved in the previous years. In particular, I was able to organize a series of joint research events (special lectures, workshops, etc.) with professionals (both scholars and practitioners) actively involved in the field. Also, I engaged in discussions about the outcomes of the research with institutional actors.
Overall, the research was fruitful across the whole period. After an initial shock about the major reorganization of the research due to the COVID-19 pandemics, I was able to obtain the best of the situation, also thanks to the massive employment of remote-based tools for research. The research indeed proved to be particularly timely, as it dealt with Online Dispute Resolution: the sudden shift to an online environment was complex, but at the same time helped to test in real time a series of hypotheses about the use of remote hearings, etc. essential for the research.
Also, I was able to achieve the objective of engaging with some institutional stakeholders key for the social impact of the research. In particular, the international cooperation with the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific, and the domestic cooperation with the Japan Arbitration Association (which enlists some of the key advisors to the Government) proved to be particularly effective in this regard.
