研究実績の概要 |
Due to travel restrictions in place for COVID-19, I was unable to carry out fieldwork on the role of religion in peacebuilding and development. However, the theoretical background to the project was published in the following high impact internationally refereed journals with the following research partners: Millennium: Journal of International Studies (co-authored with Prof. Hartmut Behr, Newcastle University, UK) and Review of International Studies (co-authored with Prof. Navnita Chadha Behera, University of Delhi, India). The articles were presented at virtual roundtables I co-chaired and convened based on the project at the International Studies Association (ISA) Annual Convention and International Political Science Association (IPSA) World Congress. Furthermore, I contributed a solicited research article, based on fieldwork in India prior to COVID-19, to a special issue in the internationally refereed journal: Religion, State and Society. Finally, Sikh Nationalism (co-authored with Prof. Gurharpal Singh, SOAS, University of London) was published in November 2021 by Cambridge University Press. It is the principal research achievement of the project and was made possible by a trip to London to collaborate with my co-author in AY2019.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
From October 2022, I will be based as a Visiting Professor in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in order to complete the research project. I hope to convene an international workshop at the LSE in order to disseminate the results of the project. The proceedings will be published in a special issue of an internationally refereed journal and/or an edited volume with a reputable publisher.
Prior to joining LSE as a visiting faculty, I will participate in a plenary session of the European International Studies Association (EISA) held in person in Athens in Greece, September 1-4 2022 where I will also chair a roundtable discussion on the role of religion in International Relations and summarise the findings of my research project.
