研究実績の概要 |
I have completed initial analysis of much of my data on Chinese museums and textbooks, and have begun to publish my research results. I have published several substantial articles related to this project in peer-reviewed journals or books. These include an overview of the influence of evolving CCP ideology on Chinese schooling, an examination of the portrayal of minorities in current school textbooks, and a paper examining the impact of Hong Kong's new National Security Law on education policy there. I have also begun a book based on my research, and am already in discussions with a publisher.

理由
The Covid pandemic has prevented me from undertaking any fieldwork over the past two years. I have managed to compensate for this to some extent by asking contacts in China to send me materials, and by having them visit museums and memorials to photograph exhibits on my behalf. The sources I have managed to assemble in this way should enable me to complete my planned research, but the situation is less than satisfactory. I estimate that publication of my planned book will probably be delayed until around 2024.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
I plan to visit Hong Kong in June 2022 (my Hong Kong residency enables me to enter despite Covid-related border restrictions). This will enable me to conduct some fieldwork for the first time in two years, and to gather some data on China as well as Hong Kong itself. I will continue to work on drafting the monograph related to this project, with a view to publishing a book based on my research by 2024.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic I have been unable to conduct fieldwork since late 2019. In addition, I was on sabbatical in the UK during the 2021-2022 academic year. Therefore, I plan to use the remaining funds to pay for a research visit to Hong Kong in 2022, and to purchase equipment and materials (books, etc.) necessary for me to complete my research.
