研究実績の概要 |
The purpose of this project is development of effective sorbents consisting of metal oxides, activated carbon and metal sulfides nano-composites for the capture and recovery of elemental mercury from coal combustion flue gas and coal gasification fuel gas. Two types of mercury removal sorbents were prepared, Fe-Ce oxides and Zn-Ce oxides, for the removal of mercury from simulated coal gasification gases containing 5ppb of elemental mercury (Hg). It was found that addition of iron oxide in cerium oxide improved the mercury removal rate (in excess of 85%). Mercury was removed in the form of HgS and HgO. The mercury removal performance of Zn-Ce mixed oxides was greater than the removal agents consisting of only CeO2 and ZnO. It was also found that the higher the CeO2 content, the higher the Hg removal performance. Furthermore, since CeO2 has an oxygen storage capacity, it is presumed that HgO was formed by the reaction between active oxygen of CeO2 and Hg. Presence of acidic gases such as H2S and HCl in coal gasification gas were effective in removing mercury.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
1. Several new-type of sorbents will be prepared, and evaluation of mercury removal performance will be carried out. 2. If the predetermined activity is obtained, the sorbents will be evaluated for Hg recovery and regeneration. 3. The stability of the sorbents for repeated use after regeneration and the characterization of the sorbent will be carried out in parallel. 4. Our newly developed Temperature Programmed Decomposition and Desorption (TPDD) technique will be employed to identify the mercury species adsorbed on the sorbents, clarify the mechanism of mercury removal and adsorbent regeneration

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Although the research for the adsorbent proceeded as planned in the current fiscal year, it was judged that the results were still insufficient for external publication, it will be used mainly in the next fiscal year as a travel expense item for participation in meetings, etc. Also, the standard gases and chemicals for the experiments will be purchased for continuation of the research in the next fiscal year. 今年度も吸着剤の研究は計画通り進んだものの、外部公表にはまだ不十分と判断し、来年度は会議等への旅費項目として主に活用する予定です。また、来年度の研究継続のため、実験用標準ガス・薬品を購入します。
