Research achievements for the 2022 academic year (FY2022: April 2022 to March 2023) can be summarized as follows:

1)‘Generic/Genetic Images: Constructing and Translating Race in “Circe” and its Draft Manuscripts’, in Joycean Japan, 34 (June 2023).
Peer-reviewed article (under consideration):
2)‘“East Americans”: Americanisation and Irish Literature, 1932-73’, in RISE: Review of Irish Studies in Europe (accepted for consideration as part of peer-reviewed themed issue; expected publication, spring 2024)

理由
While the pandemic has significantly impeded research progress until now, particularly in terms of data collection (as originally laid out in the grant application), it was possible to carry out two research trips in FY2022: August 2022 (National Library of Ireland) and March 2023 (James Hardiman Library, University of Galway). Both trips focused on archival materials. The first trip (August 2022) provided materials for publication 2) in §5, while it is anticipated that the second trip (March 2023) will form the basis for at least one but hopefully two peer-reviewed articles within the next 12-24 months.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Work on publication 2) in §5, based on data collection in the previous fiscal year, will continue, as will work on the data collected in March 2023. Thus, the primary goals for this year are to see publication 2) into print and to prepare a paper for submission based on the March 2023 data collection trip. In addition, following the confirmation of a one-year extension to the grant, further research trips will be planned for FY2023 (expected time and duration: March 2024, two/three weeks).

Any outstanding amount will be added to the fund for research trips and scientific publications in the next fiscal year. There have been no significant changes to the status of grant in the past fiscal year, apart from inevitable delays to planned research trips and presenting research findings owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
