| 研究実績の概要 |
In 2021, the results for the study on Thai were presented and published at the 35th General Meeting of the Phonetics Society of Japan, held online on Sept. 25 & 26. The results showed that psychoacoustic roughness can be used to measure laryngeal constriction in consonants, and may be more reliable than spectral tilt measures, which have been used previously. Obstruent codas, known to be produced with laryngeal constriction, were consistently found to have large effect sizes with roughness, but not with spectral tilt. The results also showed that the unaspirated and voiced stops in Thai did not have any evidence of laryngeal constriction, in opposition to previous findings.

理由
While the first part of the research on Thai language has been completed, the second part on Korean has been delayed because of the pandemic. Because South Korea's situation with COVID-19, it was not possible to hold a production experiment there to record native speakers. However, as of May 2022, the situation has improved and data collection in South Korea has now begun.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
There are about 30-40 speakers scheduled to be recorded by the end of May 2022 in South Korea. Data annotation will be done in June 2022, with analysis done in the summer following that. These results will be presented at a conference with a submission sent in before March 2023, and a journal publication following that in the following year.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to hold the planned experiment to record Korean speakers. As such, the full amount will be carried forward to 2022. The funds will be used to pay participants and coordinators to record Korean participants. The experiment is currently underway and will be completed by the end of May 2022.
