研究実績の概要

Due to the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic, I was again unable to collect any data as planned, as it would have risked the health of helpers, volunteer participants, and investigator by meeting in person.

However, I continued working on the project from a different perspective by analyzing pre-existing data, producing two manuscripts, one of which has been published, and the other is nearing completion, and will be submitted for review this school year.

For the originally planned project, I have worked with other researchers, both in Japan and internationally, to prepare and ensure that data will be collected in the next academic year. Data collection instruments have been created, and data collection procedures have been established in order to create a multi-site sample from across Japan.

理由

My stated plans for the 2021-2022 research period were to begin collecting data when it was safe enough to do so. Unfortunately the COVID-19 situation has persisted, and I have been unable to meet with student participants face-to-face for the past year. I have therefore not made any progress in this regard.

I have, however, published one manuscript based on previously collected data which will help to inform the primary study. I also plan to submit another related manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal within this research period.

今後の研究の推進方策

With data collection procedures mostly decided and research collaborators assembled, I am hopeful that I will be able to collect data from September of 2022. This would allow for data analysis and the presentation of results in 2023.

As planned last year, I will work with other researchers across Japan and internationally who would be able to assist with efficient data collection and the creation of a large enough student sample to show the hypothesized results.
In addition, I will submit a supplementary manuscript which has helped to inform the primary study for peer-review within this academic year.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic prevented me from collecting data as planned in previous years. In order to collect accurate measurements, in-person data collection is required.

The amount for next year will be used primarily for data collection and any related costs including purchasing the necessary equipment, travel to the various data collection sites, payments to participants for their time and energy, and payments to research assistants who will be available to administer data collection and data input.
