During FY2021, on-site fieldwork was not carried out in Peru due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was possible to gather data about the use of archaeological sites in La Molina district by Web information and interviews carried out with social actors through SMS. As in FY2020, archaeological sites proved useful for becoming open spaces to hold markets, vaccine venues and sport activities where personal distance was possible. These new ways of using archaeological sites created a new relationship between local people and the sites. On the one hand, archaeological sites demonstrated that they could be useful to satisfy the necessity for open spaces. On the other hand, it became obvious that archaeological sites need an infrastructure around them to allow their use for modern population without damaging the ancient remains. As a future topic, it will be interesting to observe if these new tendencies for archaeological sites help the creation of a new Social Memory where archaeological remains are seen as useful places. This project continued with the registration of the collection of La Molina District, a necessary step to make it open to the public. It will be possible later to measure how local authorities are able to manage a collection of this magnitude. FY2021 was also used to compile the information collected in previous years at La Molina District (Lima) and Pacopampa Town (Cajamarca), allowing the observation of differences in how local people use archaeological remains in urban and rural areas, especially related to the topic of Social Memory.
