| 研究実績の概要 |
During FY2021, the main research achievement was the presentation of the initial research findings at the 12th Annual Conference of the Asian Criminological Society. In addition, following an initial analysis of the Q-sort data, a more in-depth analysis of this data, as well as qualitative data gained from the post-sort questionnaire was conducted, resulting in the identification of three main perspectives of practitioners in illegal drug policy in Japan. Finally, progress was made on writing three journal articles: two of these concern a theoretical discussion of the history and development of illegal drug policy in Japan, while the third paper presents empirical findings from the research project.

理由
Due to the effects of COVID-19, there were considerable disruptions to the project which resulted in a delay of writing and dissemmination activities.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
Having received a one-year extension, the final year of the project will focus on completing and disseminating the final research report (aimed at practitioners and policy makers) and submitting the three articles currently in progress to leading international journals. In addition, there are also plans to present the research at one international conference (the European Society of Criminology Conference) and one domestic conference (the Japanese Association of Sociological Criminology Conference). Finally, and while this may extend beyond the term of the project there are also plans to write and submit a proposal for a book to be published as part of Routledge's 'Drugs, Crime and Society' monograph series.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
As the project incurred significant delays caused by COVID-19, many planned activities - and related expenditures - were postponed to FY2022. This includes translation costs of the research report aimed at practitioners and policy makers, as well as financial support for presenting research at domestic and international conferences.
