研究実績の概要 |
This year, I collected new secondary data, updated the statistical data used in my dissertation chapter in preparation for an updated and more refined analysis, further developed and presented on the project’s theoretical framework which draws cross-disciplinary parallels between sociological and philosophical logics on the social construction of desert (deservingness) of protections and rights, and published a paper (March 2022) outlining this theoretical framework and its purchase for analyzing protection levels for various itinerant populations, including internationally displaced persons seeking refuge.
I will present my most recent research developments at the upcoming IMISCOE annual conference (June 29 - July 1, 2022 in Oslo [and online]; submission status: accepted).

理由
The project’s initial third-year plan hinged on compiling primary and secondary data to conduct an event history analysis, but due to the constraints imposed by the pandemic, primary data collection has not been possible, and this stage of the project is behind schedule, requiring continuous and flexible adjustment. I have applied to extend the project's funded period by a year (extension granted) in order to move forward in conducting a longitudinal analysis of the secondary data I have acquired.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the upcoming year of this project, in addition to gathering more secondary data, I plan to refine my theoretical framework with the aim of applying it to analyze changes in protection levels for refuge seekers across countries and time. As I prepare a journal article manuscript, I will also search for an international outlet to present my research findings and receive feedback.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
Funds remain from the third year because due to the pandemic, overseas travel to collect data was not possible/feasible. I also reserved some funds to allow for the purchase of necessary books and access to secondary data during the one-year extension period of the project.
