研究実績の概要 |
The researcher was able to conduct the planned long-term fieldwork in Europe. The fieldwork was planned for FY2021 but due to Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, it was realized in FY2022. During the fieldwork, the researcher conducted interviews with individuals with an experience of living in Japan and currently residing in European countries (eight different countries) which further facilitated the understanding of decisions on staying and leaving Japan. The progress in research was also made by consulting the preliminary results, theoretical development and potential collaboration with scholars based at different universities in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, and Germany. Additionally, a survey on Central European students' motivations to study in East Asia was conducted in collaboration with researchers at the University of Vienna and three other Central European universities as a part of JSPS Fund for Fostering Joint International Research (A) related to the current project. The results from this survey will be utilized to further enhance the findings from this project. Finally, the preliminary results of the fieldwork conducted in previous years in Japan as well as some preliminary results from the fieldwork conducted in Europe were presented at multiple international conferences and workshops in Europe.
