研究実績の概要 |
The main research activity in this year was focused on the analysis of the acquired data and presenting the results. Frist, the experience of whiteness by migrants in Japan before and during the pandemic was further analysed. Diverging experiences of white individuals in Japan emphasize the increasing diversity of positions such migrants occupy and their everyday experience of whiteness requires nuanced analysis and focus on intersections with other identities, such as class and gender. These findings were published in one publication and the analysis of the experience during the pandemic was used for an international collaborative project that is expected to finish next year. Secondly, a further analysis of the decisions to stay or leave Japan was conducted, particularly focusing on the role of class and its intersections with whiteness. Some of the results were partially used for the abovementioned project as well, and were summarized separately for a major international conference.
