The study developed a method to characterise household energy services (ES) with respect to energy use, equipment (appliances, goods) and dwelling characteristics. The ES analysed were air conditioning, cooking, hot water, housing, internet, lighting, refrigeration, television and washing machine. Given the COVID restrictions, we developed the characterisation using official household information, which is advantageous when replicated in any other context with similar data. This contribution was published in a major journal and an interactive platform for policymakers in a second peer-reviewed article. The cultural domains in connection to ES (preferences, customs, values or beliefs) were explored through on-site questionnaires, and the results were published in a third article.
