研究実績の概要

The research is progressing well. I received formal approval to conduct the study from the administrators of the target study abroad program. The study abroad program will cooperate with the distribution of the survey. I created the survey to be used for the study based on interviews with key informants, available documents related to the target study abroad program, and a detailed literature review. I gave a peer-reviewed paper presentation at the World Education Research Association 2019 Focal Meeting in August 2019 in Tokyo. My paper presentation was accepted for the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Annual Conference in March 2020 in the U.S. However, the conference was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am currently in the process of revising an invited book chapter based on research findings to be published in an edited volume with an academic press.

理由

My research is progressing smoothly and according to schedule. I received full cooperation from the target study abroad program to conduct the study. The survey is ready to be administered in FY2020. The research dissemination to date has been well received and highlights the significance of the research in the international research community.

今後の研究の推進方策

I plan to continue the research as scheduled. I hope to distribute the survey in FY 2020 and then conduct follow-up qualitative interviews. I plan to disseminate research findings at international academic conferences and through publications, such as papers in international journals and a book with an academic press. However, the COVID-19 pandemic may require me to make changes to my fieldwork and research dissemination plans if domestic and international travel are not possible.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to attend and make a presentation at the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Annual Conference in March 2020. Also, my fieldwork in Japan and the U.S. was postponed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The unused FY2020 funds will be used for the grant's remaining duration to conduct necessary fieldwork and disseminate research findings at international academic conferences.
