I collected additional data as needed and completed the overall data analysis. The overall research findings identified that study abroad has a lifelong influence on individuals that can be sustained for longer than fifty years. Moreover, the experience of Japanese university students studying abroad in the US results in enduring Japan-US relations through their academic, professional, and personal lifepaths. The empirical evidence demonstrates how the internationalization of higher education through study abroad programs contributes to knowledge diplomacy through creating awareness, knowledge, and connectivity between the home country and host country. I published two invited book chapters and one journal article. I presented research findings at several invited lectures in Japan and at the British Association for International and Comparative Education Conference (UK) and Comparative and International Education Society Conference (US).
