In FY2021, me and my collaborators pioneered the technique of constrained realizations applied to large-scale structure at the epoch of Cosmic Noon (z~2-3).
The CLAMATO IGM Tomography Survey has been completed, and we have now submitted the final data release paper which now includes the first 3D map of the cosmic web at z~2.3, estimated using constrained realizations techniques. In a separate paper that is now in publication with Nature Astronomy, we have generated a suite of constrained simulations based on the galaxy survey data at the same redshift and volume within the COSMOS field. This has allowed us to detect galaxy protoclusters with greater efficiency, and also enables us to accurately predict the fate of these structures as they collapse into galaxy clusters with cosmic time.
On the theory side, we have completed two projects with cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. In the first, we studied the effect of pre-heating from large-scale feedback in galaxy protoclusters, and found that this effect should be detectable with IGM tomography surveys. In the second paper, we find that the future IGM tomography survey will be able to detect the effect of feedback in the flux-density relationship of the Lyman-alpha forest.
