研究実績の概要 |
We successfully incorporated carbon nanotubes in photoconductive antenna devices for terahertz (THz) emission measurements. We were able to obtain promising The THz emission efficiencies with our prototype devices. More importantly, we were able to combine THz emission measurements with other techniques and theoretical modelling to gain more understanding of the ultrafast response in carbon nanotubes.

理由
We were able to achieve significant portion of our initial objectives for the project. However, more work is needed towards device optimization, mainly due to some difficulties in fabricating better carbon nanotube films using existing methods.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Device optimization to develop efficient carbon nanotube-based THz devices will be tackled in the next fiscal year. Further work will be also done to understand the ultrafast dynamics in carbon nanotubes using THz emission techniques, which should give information useful for other optoelectronic applications as well.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
We had to reschedule some of the experiments due to equipment breakdown (femtosecond laser), as well as the COVID-19 pandemic in the later part of the previous fiscal year. Device optimization and other experiments related to carbon nanotubes (spectroscopy and THz detection), among others, will be done in the next fiscal year.
