研究実績の概要 |
Several finebubble generation devices have been created and tested. Those devices can overpass the oxygen saturation conditions in water is less than 20 minutes, with liquid flow rates as low as 200mL/min. Therefore, it is possible to change the typical batch-type generation of finebubbles with a semi-continuous or continuous generation of finebubbles. The combination of slug flow of water containing finebubbles in small channels has shown that the internal mixing in slug flow has a significant effect in changing the size distribution of bubbles and its gas desorption rate. The size of finebubbles was measured using Laser Diffraction and Dynamic Light Scattering to measure the size of finebubbles. Preliminary results show a mean size of 250 nm.

理由
The performance evaluation of finebubbles in small channels has not been done considering chemical reaction because the construction material of the finebubble generation devices is PLA (poly lactic acid), which is not suitable for handling chemicals such as NaOH. The size distribution of finebubble has been measured using Laser Diffraction (LD) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) methods. The used LD device is rather old. Therefore, good result reproducibility was not attained. In addition, the current equipment can do measurements only in a batch cell. The DLS results have shown reliable measurements of the size distribution of bubbles.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
This year, new construction materials that endure chemical reaction conditions will be tested and used. Also, the measurement in the Laser Diffraction device will be done in a flow cell to measure the size of finebubbles continuously. Also, a recirculation method and a numbering-up method will be implemented to generate finebubbles continuously or semi-continuously in small channels. The effect of slug flow with finebubbles will also be studied in more detail.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I will use the budget to buy more experimental equipment such as tubes, pumps, and joint connections. Also, I plan to buy a flow cell to measure the size of bubbles. I will buy chemical reagents to study the reaction behavior of fine bubbles. I will join an international conference and a domestic conference to share my research findings.
