研究実績の概要 |
All pelvic-fin brooding species of medaka present a unique set of characteristics which synergically work for this reproductive mode to function. It was demonstrated that all pelvic fin brooder species present elongated pelvic-fins used to hold the eggs, a conspicuous abdominal concavity where the eggs are kept, and longer eggs incubation period. All characteristics above were absent across congeneric non-pelvic-fin brooder species. We discover that pelvic-fin brooding is polygenetic in origin and that all loci associated to this reproductive mode are not genetically linked. We found no evidence supporting the hypothesis that the parallel evolution of this reproductive mode was facilitated by introgressive hybridization between clades of brooder species.

All main objectives and question have been addressed satisfactorily. Nonetheless the ongoing COVID pandemic have restricted the access to field work and samples that will be ideal to analyse.

The project is currently on the final stages and all primary conclusions has been achieved.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
The ongoing COVID pandemic has make difficult to perform field work which will be ideal for the smooth continuation of this proposal. As a mitigation plan I have been looking to establish collaborations with other researchers which could allow me to continue developing this proposal.
