研究実績の概要 |
Only the Tokyo Gas cohort has been used in Japan to produce landmark studies on laboratory-measured fitness to predict specific health outcomes in Japanese men (e.g., diabetes, cancer mortality, back pain, hypertension) for the past ~30 years. Notably, no studies have ever been conducted on Japanese women. Our new fitness estimation equation (nCRF) uses variables commonly found (e.g., resting heart rate, blood pressure, age, smoking, BMI) in health records. nCRF enables researchers to conduct investigations on fitness prediction on any health outcome by using data from any Japanese hospital or clinic electronic health record, including the Japanese National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups (NDB). The potential impact of such studies may be used to inform clinical practice and public health guidelines regarding the prevention and management of chronic conditions in Japanese.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
For FY23, there will be one conference presentation (JUN22) and two peer-reviewed publications (JUL22 and MAR23). The next phase is applying for KAKEN in FY23 to conduct NDB(National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan)-related studies. We have already started communication with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
