研究実績の概要

This year we have been finalizing a study to document the relationships between food groups and eating time according to different diabetes status. We hope to confirm associations between evening/night and consumption of pudding, soft drink, sugar confectioneries, chocolates, spirits, beers, ice cream, biscuits, and crisps for all adults in the UK. Sweetened beverages, sugar-confectioneries appeared more strongly associated with evening/night among un-diagnosed diabetics. Foods consumed in the evening/night time tend to be highly processed, easily accessible, and rich in added sugar or saturated fat. Individuals with undiagnosed diabetes are more likely to consume unhealthy foods at night. The results are interesting and important to inform the health authorities about the prevention of diabetes in adults.

理由

Our manuscript is still under review at the moment. Mainly because several other journals were not interested to publish our paper and it took several months for each of the journal to finally decide not to proceed our publication. Currently, the journal under Frontiers publication group has provided positive review comments and we are almost finishing the revision and resubmit our paper.
One of the co-author changed his affiliation from LSHTM to the University of Rome La Sapienza in Italy during the pandemic which caused quite a lot of delay and difficulty in our communication as well as the process to publication.

今後の研究の推進方策

We hope to have our second paper published soon this year and be able to attend a few more academic meetings in the new academic year. At the mean time, this project will be added with more interesting analysis such as extension of Multilevel Latent Class Analysis using the same database on the quality of food intake and time of consumption.

次年度使用額が生じた理由

There is a delay in the process of the second publication due to the pandemic and one of the major co-authors moved from the UK to Italy. Most of the authors working load have been switched to COVID-19 related researches and analyses.
We will try to get the second paper be accepted as soon as possible and start our new analysis in short time.
