研究実績の概要 |
This research is aiming to investigate how transport electrification would impact emission trajectories and climate change, as well as what policies and strategies are needed for emission reduction and climate change mitigation. In this year, a global transport model, which contains an elaborate representation on detailed transport behavioral and technological descriptions, has been developed to project the transport demand of passengers and freight as well as the world transport energy use and emissions. Furthermore, the transport model has been coupled with a global economic model and a simplified climate model to reveal the interactive mechanisms between transport electrification, economy, energy, and climate change. Such model coupling will enable electrified transport to be represented in an Integrated Assessment Model (IAM) by providing technological and behavioral factors of transport sector. Datasets for the global modeling have also been created for model calibration and parameter estimation.

2: おおむね順調に進展している
理由
Integrated modeling and data preparation are in general progressing well as initially planned and expected. The transport model development and integration into the framework of IAM have been done very much in time. Scenario design and numerical simulations are progressing faster than planned due to workflow improvements.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
To explore the combined effects of transport electrification and climate change mitigation efforts, a set of scenarios will be structured according to socioeconomic pathways, transport electrification strategies, and energy policies, such as carbon pricing and high penetration of renewable energy. Moreover, it is also possible to explore the regional differentiations in the transport electrification pathway and its impacts on energy use and emission profiles, considering national heterogeneity in policy timelines and goals across the world.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
This study is partially supported by the university fund, so the expenditure for FY 2019 was lower than expected. I am intended to submit the research articles to the international journals, so the remainder of the funds from FY 2019 are going to be spend for English proofreading services.
