The aim was to examine the immune landscape of breast cancer (BrCa) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) as it relates to aspects of tumor biology, including intra-tumoral genetic heterogeneity and clinical significance. Methods: Using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and other large independent datasets, we correlated cytolytic activity (CYT) with mutational, structural, and genetic features of the tumor, as well as clinical outcomes. CYT-high and BrCa HCCs associated with enhanced immunity and better survival. Our findings suggest that proper identification of tumor immune microenvironment could stratify the patients for appropriate treatment based on their biology.
