研究概要

地球惑星科学に関連して現れる典型的な熱対流系,特に,回転する球殻内の熱対流系における対流パターンの性質について,回転角速度と内外境界の温度差への依存性を中心に調べた.その結果,温度差の増大と共に発生する臨界対流パターンについて分岐ダイアグラムを数値的に求め,対流パターンの東西位相速度の連続変化やその物理的機構を明らかにした.さらに内外境界と流体運動の力学的相互作用を調べ,境界の差動回転やカオス的挙動の存在を示した.
